Sundial repairs to wrap up by August
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The end is in sight for the completion of repairs to the Sundial Recreation Center in Sun City.
At a workshop meeting of the Recreation Centers of Sun City board of directors Monday, it was announced the facility would likely be finished and ready for operation by August.
Assistant General Manager Jim Wellman said the final stages are being worked on.
"The areas outside of the pool area itself are pretty much finished up," he said. "Most of our energy right now is being focused on the pool area itself. They're finishing up the painting on the ceiling ... the walls are being painted, the contractors are starting to put in a bit of the decking at the pool."
Wellman said the association is hoping that the final stages of the project, including occupancy permits and safety inspections, would be completed within the next two months.
"When the building's finished we have to get a certificate of occupancy and a final permit from the Maricopa County Health Department," he said. "Those two processes sometimes take a little bit."
Wellman said various clubs and groups will be notified about moving back into the building.
"No one will be allowed to move into the facility until we get that certificate of occupancy and the health department permit," he said. "(The clubs) will get notification with dates about when we would like to both walk through (the club's) space and when (the clubs) will be able to return."
Sundial Recreation Center is at 14801 N. 103rd Ave.
The next regular meeting of the board of directors will be at 9 a.m. June 26 in the Lake-view Recreation Center, at Thunderbird and Del Webb boulevards.
