Walled off

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Did you know young newcomers come into our city and do as they please? They build privacy walls on both of their neighbors’ lots, and then, as the neighbor, you go to your HOA who say they can’t help. You go to your county government and find out they had a permit and the wall meets county codes, yet, the newcomer’s wall is still on their neighbor’s property. Now, if you want to sell your property, you must tell prospective buyers, “By the way, our neighbor built their wall on my property. No, they didn’t have permission.” That plat map that was issued to me when I bought the house is not correct anymore. It definitely affects our property values. You work all of your life, pay your taxes, obey the law, and what do you get? A slap in the face by the powers that be.

From the editor: Many of you have expressed concerns about some of the harsh anonymous comments from readers. To remedy that, we are introducing new features. You can create your own blog, publish your news and share your photos with the community. Once you fill out a simple form and leave a verifiable e-mail address, you can set up your profile page. It will display all of your contributions and allow you to track issues and easily connect with others.

We want our site to be a place where people discuss and debate ideas that foster stronger communities. We built this for you. Please take care of it. Tolerate broad thinking, but take action against obscene or hateful material. Make it a credible and safe place worth preserving and sharing.
