KYKOTSMOVI, Ariz. (AP) — The list of candidates to fill the top two leadership posts in the Hopi tribal government has been narrowed.

Leroy Ned Shingoitewa (seen-GOY'-tee-wah) and Clark Tenakhongva (tin-AHK'-hohng-vah) will face off on Nov. 18 for the chairman's seat.

Herman Honanie (ho-NON'-ee) and Leroy Sumatzkuku (sue-MUTZ'-koo-koo) were the top two vote getters for the vice chairman's seat.

Nearly 1,400 Hopis voted in Wednesday's primary election in which six sought to become chairman and five the vice chairman. The results were released Thursday.

The northern Arizona tribe has had a rare vacancy in the offices since December when the chairman and vice chairman resigned amid political chaos.
