KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) — A Kingman man is facing felony charges after a 7-year-old girl was shot in the eye with a BB gun.

Mohave County deputies arrested 22-year-old Ian Patrick Grimes Monday evening after receiving a call from the victim's uncle.

Deputies were advised that three children were outside playing when a neighbor, later identified as Grimes, shot at them from his porch.

The child was transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center where she was treated for a corneal abrasion and later released.

Grimes told deputies the shooting was an accident and that he thought the BB gun was unloaded.

Deputies took Grimes into custody and booked him on felony aggravated assault.
