Youngtown shoppers welcome spring
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A steady stream of shoppers descended upon the second annual Youngtown Spring Fling Saturday.
Used books, artwork and wood carvings were among the items available for purchase. Live music and a display of critters from the Wildlife World Zoo also provided entertainment.
But one of the highlights of the event was a town yard sale.
Vince Micallef, community services director, said town departments cleaned house and were offering items for silent auction and sales.
"We have a foosball table and other large items that are silent auction items," Micallef said. "We have everything from fax machines to soccer balls for sale."
In addition, there were holiday decorations and team uniforms for sale.
All of the proceeds go to town projects.
Peggy Bonjack of Sun City purchased several used books from the Friends of the Library group.
Bonjack said she frequents the Youngtown Library and is always looking for something new to read.
"I get desperate if I don't have a book," Bonjack said.
