Sun City Grand woman leads educational trip to Greece
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Arizona State University and the Osher Institute in the Sun Cities area have joined with the Travelearn Network, which includes more than 300 colleges and universities in the United States to provide educational tours around the world.
This September, the group will travel to Greece.
The group will be led by a Greek guide who will instruct us about the history, culture and politics of Greece. There will also be a chance to meet with Greeks in a tavern in Athens. The participants learn about Greece first hand. It is a "classroom in the field" experience, different from traditional large group tours.
The land tour will spend some time in Athens and then travel on to Delphi, Kalambaka, Olympia, Sparta, the Corinth Canal among many other sites in Greece. The trip is from Sept. 11-22, with the option of adding four days on a cruise ship to visit the islands of Rhodes, Mykonos, Crete as well as a trip to Kusadasi to visit the ancient Roman city of Ephesus.
The trip will be led by Gale McCall, who lives in Sun City Grand, and will be met by a Greek guide in Athens.
For information, contact the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, College of Human Services, ASU, PO Box 37100, Phoenix, AZ 37100, or call 602 543-6440. McCall may be reached at 315-882-2708 or Galemccall@AOL.com.
