Kohl’s set to open 2nd Surprise store

Kohl’s Department Stores will open its Surprise South store March 13 at 15437 W. Cactus Road.

The new Kohl’s location will create approximately 150 jobs in Surprise, officials said. The Surprise South store is one of three to open this spring in Arizona, bringing the state total to 25.

In celebration of its newest stores, Kohl’s will offer grand opening sales, providing special prices throughout the store on well known exclusive brands.

Glendale First tabs 1st executive director

Glendale First, also known as G1, announced it has appointed Gabriele Drewry of Glendale to serve as its first executive director.

G1 is a non-profit business organization established in 2006 with a focus on promoting the city of Glendale.

The organization supports local government in attracting businesses, recognizing Glendale successes, encouraging its youth and promoting the benefits and amenities the community has to offer.

Drewry spent five years at the Greater Phoenix Economic Council developing ties with the local business community and community leaders.

Her first major project will be the upcoming Second Annual Celebration of Champions Dinner

This year’s event, sponsored by Ashley Furniture HomeStores, will be May 14 at the Glendale Civic Center. It will honor students from Glendale high schools who have achieved state-level recognition in athletics and academics.
