Classes teach residents Dysart basics
Comments 0 | Recommend 0In an organization like a school district — with more than 23,000 students, approximately 2,700 employees and a multi-million dollar budget — understanding the issues can be a challenge.
However, an upcoming series of classes by the Dysart Unified School District will help to detail those complexities.
Designed for interested members of the community or potential candidates for the governing board, the district will hold a series of workshops — Dysart 101 — to provide an overview of the district operations and the responsibilities of board members. With three seats up for election in November, these classes may help interested candidates learn more about the district, vision, and the leadership role of board members.
Presented by Dysart administrators and board members, classes are scheduled for three weeks:
• Tuesday — Overview of Leadership with a Vision, and Educational Services Operations.
• May 20 — Overview of Leadership in Finance, Facilities and Budgeting.
• May 27 — Overview of Leadership in Planning and Human Resources Operations.
Meetings will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Dysart Education Center, 15802 N. Parkview Place in Surprise, in the governing board room. Each meeting will include time for questions and open discussion.
Community members who attend each class will receive a certificate of completion.
