Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Volunteers in the Dysart Unified School District gave 77,214 hours of their time in schools over the course of the 2008-2009 school year.

The district's 1,100 volunteers donated a total 12,261 more hours during this school year than last year.

Volunteers provide a large support to the teachers and office staff throughout the district. Through volunteers, ranging from parents to community members, Dysart schools benefit from the community resources that provide time and support to its schools.

Volunteers provide support working with infants and toddlers at the Child Development Center, and assisting teachers and students at the Dysart Early Childhood Center.  Additionally, volunteers often listen to and read with elementary students and help with math, English, science, social studies or computer skills. Volunteers also assist teachers in a variety of ways and can provide assistance as office aides, library assistants or help with the district's sports programs.

For information about becoming a Dysart volunteer call 623-876-7195 or visit www.dysart.org and follow the department tab to community relations.
