Fund-raiser garners nearly $6,000 for family development center

Friends, neighbors and local business owners gathered this morning to present a check for $5,746.08 to the Glendale Family Development Center.

The check represents proceeds from a “Broadway Under the Stars” fund-raiser in October at the Peoria home of Don and Carol Bilse.

Bits & Pieces from Arizona Broadway Theatre performed a Broadway revue, and food, beverages and prizes were donated by local restaurants and merchants, said Tom Eggleston, a member of the fund-raiser committee.

Glendale Family Development Center is a nonprofit, whose mission is to break the cycle of illiteracy, poverty and abuse. The center is at 7800 N. 59th Ave. in Glendale.
