Border crosser's body found in Arizona desert
Comments 0 | Recommend 0TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — U.S. Border Patrol agents say the body of a man believed to be an illegal immigrant has been found in the desert south of Tucson and he was shot to death.
The victim with a backpack was located Thursday near Amado and authorities say the man was shot several times in the torso.
The Border Patrol turned the case over to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, who determined the body was outside its jurisdiction since it was located about 20 feet inside Santa Cruz County.
The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case as a homicide.
They say the victim is believed to be the sixth illegal border crosser to be gunned down in Santa Cruz County this year.
