Sun City Elks win honors at state convention

Members, delegates and guests of the Sun City Elks Lodge attended the AEA State convention last week in Tempe at the Fiesta Inn Resort.

The convention consisted of an awards ceremony and more than three days of conferences, banquets and planning for the forthcoming fiscal year.

On Saturday, the lodges made donations to the Arizona Elks Major Projects, known as the Exalted Rulers’ March.

The Sun City Lodge fared well at the awards ceremony, receiving the following:

• First place for Excellence in Protocol 2007-2008 West District.

• First place, State Protocol champion.

• First place, Elks National Foundation Per Capita Award Division VI (lodges with more than 1,500 members).

• First place, AEA, Youth Activities Award, Division VI.

• First place, AEA, Drug Awareness Award, Division VI, (six consecutive years).

• First place, AEA, Americanism Brochure, Division VI.

• First place, AEA, Best Public Relations, West District, Division VI.

• First place, AEA, Best Public Relations, State, Division VI.

All second and third place winners will be awarded later during the year.
