Cheer champs abound
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The Dysart High School and Valley Vista High School cheer squads took some top honors when they participated in the Arizona Interscholastic Association State Cheer competition March 1.
The Dysart High School team finished third in the varsity pom category and Daniel Kellis, Dysart's mascot, received first place in the school mascot competition. Additionally, the school's varsity co-ed show cheer group finished in third place and the Dysart hip hop team took fourth place honors. Dysart High School cheerleader Ashley Boyum was selected as a Universal Cheerleaders Association All Star and had the opportunity to cheer in London as a result of her all-star selection.
The Valley Vista High School cheer squad finished first in the sportsmanship category of the Arizona Interscholastic Association competition. The Valley Vista team also participated in the National Football League Experience Cheer Competition where they were awarded a first-place finish in the division II cheer competition. This was the first athletic trophy Valley Vista High School has received.
