Explore space as a Challenger center volunteer
Comments 0 | Recommend 0
Those who have a few hours to volunteer on a weekly or monthly basis are invited to spend that time at the Challenger Space Center in Peoria.
The popular space museum is accepting volunteer applications for several positions within the center including tour guides, gift shop personnel, reception desk, greeters and more.
"We're very fortunate to have great volunteers here at Challenger Space Center, but some of them leave for the summer or have other commitments," said Mary Lynn Kelly, executive director at the Challenger Space Center. "So we are looking for bright individuals who enjoy learning and talking about planet Earth and the world beyond. There is no better place to travel to space than the Challenger Space Center."
No experience is necessary to become a volunteer. Regular orientation meetings are given monthly. The hours and days are flexible, plus volunteers receive incentives such as free admission for family members, invitations to special events, discounts on gift shop items and more. Ages 14 and older are considered, so the positions are perfect for high school students needing community service hours.
The Challenger Space Center is at 21170 N. 83rd Ave., just off Loop 101 and the Union Hills Drive exit. For information, call 623-322.2001 or visit www.azchallenger.org for a volunteer application under the Support the Center navigation bar.
