Mail deposit box stolen in SCW

Daily News-Sun

The  blue U.S. Postal collection box at 18399 N 128th Ave. in Sun City West was stolen late Tuesday or early today, officials said.

The postal service is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever was  responsible for the theft.

The Sun City Post Office last collected mail from the collection box at approximately 3 p.m. Tuesday, and the box was reported missing about 10 a.m. today.

Customers depositing mail after the last known collection time on Tuesday should call the Postal Inspection Service at 877-876-2455, option 3, and file a mail theft complaint, officials said.

The Postal Service has not installed a replacement collection box at the location; however, there are other collection boxes available for use within a half-mile radius. The postal service reminds customers that when depositing outgoing mail in a collection box, customers should always check that day's collection schedule posted on the receptacle and make sure mail is deposited before the last posted collection time.

Mail theft carries a maximum penalty of up to five years in prison.  Anyone with information regarding this case, please call 877-876-2455, option 5.
