RCSCW board sets guidelines to fill vacancy

Daily News-Sun

Recreation Centers of Sun City West owner-members in good standing are invited to apply for a vacancy on the nine-member governing board.

In a special meeting Wednesday, the board discussed the process for selecting a replacement appointee after the abrupt resignation last week of newly elected director Max Mohr.

The board approved a motion that outlined the process: It will accept applications until Oct. 24, followed by an interview process of candidates.

The candidate the board approves at the Nov. 20 regular meeting will serve a seven-month appointment and may run again for a three-year term.

The application for candidacy - a single-page resume-style listing of qualifications and past experience - should be turned in by 3 p.m. Oct. 24, to Sharon Schomer, governing board office manager. The application may be mailed or dropped off at the Administrative Offices, 19803 R.H. Johnson Blvd., or e-mailed to ofcmgr@rcscw.com.

The board will post the opening at each recreation center in the community, on the community's Web site at www.scwclubs.com and in several newspapers that serve the community, President Matt Szydlowski said. All owner-members are eligible to serve on the board.

Mohr was elected in March to a three-year term.
