POPULAR LUNCH ENTRÉE: Homemade chicken soup with matzo balls.

POPULAR DINNER ENTRÉE: Roasted chicken with homemade mashed potatoes and cole slaw; beef brisket; sweet and sour cabbage rolls; open-faced turkey sandwich on challah bread; liver and onions.

POPULAR DESSERT: Homemade carrot cake; noodle kugel; cheesecake; macaroons; chocolate cake.

AVAILABLE FOR: Dine-in, take out, catering, parties.

PRICE RANGE: $2.95 to $12.95.

WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW: The family-owned and operated restaurant was previously in Glendale but moved to Surprise to be able to offer an expanded menu and more space for full sit-down table service. There are three televisions in the dining room. The restaurant will soon serve wine and beer. Children eat free from 4 p.m. to close Monday through Friday.

UNIQUE TIDBITS: The rye bread is double baked and hand-sliced. All desserts, soups and other menu items are prepared from scratch on site. The restaurant carries a line of Dr. Brown and Boylan sodas, as well as egg creams made with U-Bet Chocolate.

SLOGAN: “We are famous for the best sandwiches in town.”
