The Glendale City Council appointed several residents to serve on advisory boards and commissions at its meeting Tuesday.

They are JoAnn Caufield, Edward Luiszer, John McNutt-Bessler and Sharon Sprague - Citizens Advisory Commission on Neighborhoods; Mohamed Gaballa - Citizens Bicycle Advisory Committee; Karen Nikoloudakis - Community Development Advisory Committee; and Gary Parr - Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission.

The residents were appointed to serve two-year terms.

The city's 18 citizen advisory groups serve an integral role in helping shape the community, from local historic preservation initiatives to transportation projects.

Residents can request an application to serve on a board or commission by calling the City Council at 623-930-2249 or visiting www.glendaleaz.com.

Applicants must live in Glendale and be at least 18 years old. High school students living in Glendale can apply to serve on either the city's Library Advisory Board or Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission.
